As part of my 30 day experiment for stopping GERD, low acid, Sibo and H pylori I tried Zinc l Carnosine.
I was pretty blown away how much it improved my acid after such a short time. Is it completely gone? No not yet but it continues to improve every day. Some days I even feel normal and I almost forget that I should be careful with what I eat. That’s a big deal for me because I was living in fear, when it came to food. Food was my number 1 enemy and could shut me down for days if I wasn’t careful.
Some of the major things that I noticed right away were, less acid during the day, less nausea and I’m hungry and have an appetite for the first time in two years.
Food smells no longer bother me. I think I had such a fear of food that even when I smelled something that might’ve made me sick, it made me feel bad. Hey the mind is powerful. What can I say?
So let’s talk about what Zinc l Carnosine can do and where it comes from.
Where did it come from?
The short answer is in Japan, where they’ve been using it over 20+ years to heal ulcers.
Although you won’t find these together in nature this compound has two natural compounds.
Zinc which is an essential mineral. We’ve all heard of zinc especially when it comes to immunity. When it’s cold and flu season more than likely you’ve had someone tell you “don’t forget to take your zinc!”
L Carnosine is an amino acid that is found in the brain, muscle, and gastrointestinal tissues in our bodies. It has strong antioxidant and muscle-building properties. A lot of athletes use this today as a supplement.
As I mentioned before these two aren’t naturally found together in nature but when they are combined they seem to have a positive impact on the body.
The Benefits
- Restores the gastric lining and treats peptic ulcers.
- It helps repair intestinal damage. That includes ulcerative colitis and leaky gut.
- It can be effective at ridding your body of h pylori due to its high antibacterial properties and is shown to be very effective when used in conjunction with a prescribed antibiotic.
- It calms down nausea, heartburn, and bloating. Since I struggle with all three I can attest to a huge improvement with all three of these symptoms.
- It assists in maintaining the gut barrier and maintains gut permeability.
- It reduces oxidative stress and damage caused by free radicals due its high antioxidant content.
- It supports your skin health and helps fight sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles. By activating the function of your longevity genes. This can increase your collagen production and improve elasticity..
- Surprisingly it can improve taste disorders. Many people who have radiation on their head or neck area tend to have taste disorders and this is quite often used to help improve this side effect.
- It supports the liver due to it’s potent antioxidants. These antioxidants can reduce inflammation in your cells from damage caused by oxidative stress. It can help regulate liver and improve your liver enzymes.
- It can also treat nutritional deficiencies of zinc and Carnosine.
The Downside of Zinc Carnosine
Personally, I’ve had no issues taking the supplement, and I tend to be a little bit fragile when it comes to new supplements. However, I started out only taking one pill a day so if I increased that perhaps I could have had some mild side effects. I’m a firm believer in starting small to see how your body reacts.
Some of the most common side effects can be, heartburn, nausea and stomach pain.
They recommend not taking this, if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the actual supplement. You should also not take this if you’re breast-feeding or pregnant. Remember it’s always important to talk to your doctor first before you start any new supplement.
Final Thoughts
Personally I wish I had known about this years ago. This has been a fantastic addition to my routine and made me feel so much better and I don’t even take a full dose.
This is what I have been taking. Click here . There are thousands of reviews on it and so many helpful ones. I love when people give you insight into how supplements help them or if they made any difference at all. It’s a way for you to get a feel if it’s something worth exploring.
