About

A little about me, several years ago I was diagnosed with celiac disease and Graves’ disease. I had my gall bladder removed because it was failing, ulnar nerve surgery because my hands were going numb. My struggle to feel normal and function like everyone else has been a challenge. For years I managed for the most part to do pretty well. Yes I felt terrible but not so terrible I couldn’t hide it.

As the years crept up and I hit my forties, my hormones started going crazy. I felt even worse and pretending to function was not an option anymore. Fast forward a few years,, my husband passed and the grief and the stress just overwhelmed my body. Never good at expressing negative emotions, I kept it inside and played the I can handle it card. You can hide how you feel but your body will still react no matter how big that smile is on your face. I lost over 80 pounds in a year, my nausea which had never been great had become a daily occurrence to the point of getting on medication, I was diagnosed with severe GERD and my fatigue was at an all time low. I barely functioned for two years.

In 2023 my son came home after graduating college, Heartbroken and also not as healthy as he had been when he was home. We were a mess, but thank God for my son. Because even in my terrible state, I know I had to help him. Which also helped me.

I started making food again, instead of drinking Diet Coke and eating snacks and started eating meat again. Slowly but surely we healed a little together everyday. The sadness, started to fade. We started getting ourselves back on track. We set up little 30 day experiments to improve our lives. That led me here. A way to document our journey, our progress and our set-backs.

Today we live a clean life with only once in a while “days off”. The improvement is massive, the joy in life is coming back. I hope you’ll stick around and follow our adventures but more than that I hope they will help you, give you the motivation to start taking control of your health.
